How Can I pay for Rehab?

Many people think that rehab is too expensive. Well, it is quite expensive but, did you know that most health insurance plans will pay for rehab?

Private Health Insurance: Many states now require that certain types of insurance companies provide benefits for alcohol and drug rehab.  Because of the impact of drug addiction on companies and corporations, many work-sponsored benefits packages will include coverage for rehab even when they are not required to by law.

If you are not covered by your own health insurance policy or that of a family member or spouse, there are other options to consider.

Private funding: if possible, you might want to consider paying for the treatment program in cash, either in advance or over the course of the program period on a per-session basis. Paying as you go offers the security of knowing that there will be no lingering bills once the process has been completed.  However, if money is tight, you may also want to consider obtaining private financing in order to pay for rehab so the recovering addict will not be forced to suspend treatment before it is completed.

Private financing: Obtaining a loan from your financial institution may help to cover the costs of addiction treatment.  Taking on an additional monthly payment is a small price to pay for the benefits of sobriety, especially when measured against the costs of using drugs on a regular basis.

Selling personal items of value: If you own a camper or boat, consider placing it on the market at a fair price to offset the cost of rehab. With the increased ability to work and make positive career advancements, you can always buy a new boat. Most important during this difficult time is to find a way to pay for rehab because your health and your ability to defeat your addiction with the help of trained professionals is most important. Many individuals possess something of value, even if they do not realize it. By searching your jewelry box for a few pieces of mismatched gold trinkets, you may find that you have enough to pay for rehab or at least begin the recovery process for you or a family member.  In some cases, selling an antique might raise enough funds for the entire program.  Parting with an object of sentimental value can be difficult, but if you consider the positive effects that might come about from the sacrifice, the trade could be well worth it.  Is your diamond ring more important than your life or the life of your child?  When it comes to the life of a family member, no sacrifice is too great.

Apply for government grants: Depending upon where you live and the age of the alcoholic/addict, you may apply for federal funding and grants to help pay for rehab for substance abuse.  Smaller communities may offer similar programs, as well as offerings on the state level. And the best part is that a grant is not the same thing as a loan so, you don’t have to pay these monies back.

If you or someone you know is suffering from alcoholism or addiction dont let the cost of drug rehab deter you. We are here to help. Call 1-800-951-6135.
