Top 10 Celebrity Meltdowns of 2013

These top 10 celebrity meltdowns of 2013 have more than one thing in common. Besides involving the highly public lives of celebrities, these incidents, in one way or another involve alcohol or other drugs. So, the lesson here kids is: Drugs are bad, mmmkay?

Lamar Odom

In July, the basketball player was photographed during a public tantrum that involved him destroying a paparazzo’s camera equipment and using said equipment to damage the poor dude’s car. Odom’s drug use has been a topic of discussion lately; reportedly struggling with crack and alcohol. In fact, in August of this year, Odom was arrested for driving under the influence and later pleaded no contest to the charge and accepted a sentence of three years’ probation and three months of alcohol abuse treatment. Odom has revealed that his estranged father, Joe, is a heroin addict. Sources:,

Justin Bieber

March and April marked a string of public breakdowns for the Bieb: late concert appearances, an on-stage fainting spell, tour cancellations, a failed attempt to bring his capuchin monkey across the German customs border, and a shirtless hospital stay. He later sobbed and lashed out at paparazzi in London. After being seen topless at a Polish airport, he was back in the US and accused of spitting on and threatening the life of one of his neighbors. A search of Bieber’s tour bus in Sweden also allegedly uncovered marijuana and a Taser. Source:

Gucci Mane

After a seemingly random and semi-coherent Twitter tirade launched against Drake, 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, T.I., Frenchie, 808 Mafia, Yo Gotti, Waka Flocka, Atlantic Records and so many others, as well as Tweets that boasted of threesomes with Nicki Minaj, Tyga‘s girlfriend Blac Chyna, and affairs with Ciara, Monica and Taraji P. Henson, Mane released a song entitled “Stealing,” that featured more slams leveled at T.I., Young Jeezy, and Yo Gotti, the very next day. He claimed, soon after that his Twitter had been hacked by his former manager, and before long his entire account was deactivated. Whatever the actual reason, he apologized to fans and admitted that he was seeking treatment for an addiction to cough syrup. Source:

Reese Witherspoon

Even America’s sweetheart wasn’t safe from a public meltdown this year. When her husband, Jim Toth was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving outside Atlanta last April, Witherspoon tried to pull the celebrity card when she forced herself into the police officer’s cruiser, and screamed “Do you know who I am?” in his face. The outburst earned Reese an arrest of her own for disorderly conduct and obstruction, and both husband and wife were carted off to jail. Source:

Jason London

A drunk Jason London (Dazed and Confused, Mallrats) punched a bouncer, directed a homophobic slur at police officers responding to the brawl and pooped his pants in a cop car following his arrest. “Guess what f—–? I f—ing love this. I f—ing own you guys so hard. I’m rich and I’m a motherf—ing famous actor! F—ing look me up, bitch,” TMZ claims London told the police before soiling himself. Source:

Paula Deen

Deen was accused of discrimination by a former employee, and over the course of the court proceedings she admitted to using racial slurs. The fallout was massive, and Deen was dropped by The Food Network in June. After posting a series of truly bizarre “apology” videos on YouTube, things got weirder when she appeared on The Today Show on June 26th. Deen never uttered the words “I’m sorry” during her interview with Matt Lauer, but she did say “Would I have fired me? Knowing me? No,” “I is what I is,” and “There’s a couple of kinds of people that I don’t like, that I am prejudiced against, Matt — and that’s thieves and liars.” Weird. Source:

Chris Brown

In January he fought with Frank Ocean over a parking space outside of a L.A. recording studio. It was a he said/he said situation, with both sides claiming the other swung first. Parking lots proved just as unlucky in March, when Brown reportedly exploded over a $10 valet fee. Apparently he was pissed because he had only been at the venue for 30 minutes and didn’t feel like he had to pay the full parking amount. Most recently, Brown was arrested for felony assault outside Washington D.C.’s W Hotel in late October. Apparently a man jumped into a photo Brown was taking with two women, and either Brown  r his body guard, depending on the story, broke the man’s nose. Who threw the punch is up for debate, but Brown spent 36 hours in jail and was hurriedly sent to rehab for anger management. Source:

Teresa Giudice and Joe Giudice

In July, this Real Housewives of New Jersey couple were slapped with a 39-count indictment that included conspiring to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud and bankruptcy fraud, and making false statements on loan applications. The couple pleaded not guilty but, they were indicted on two more counts in November. If convicted, they could face more than 50 years behind bars. Source:

Nick Stahl

Back in late June and about one year after he checked into rehab, Stahl was busted for alleged drug possession. In the weeks prior to his arrest, the Terminator 3 star was placed on a 5150 hold following an undisclosed incident. Source:

In the News: Lamar Odom Checks into Rehab and His Dealer Talks to the Press

Lamar Odom has reportedly entered a rehab facility for drug and alcohol abuse, according to People.

“He realized he needs help,” a source told People mag, which broke the story Wednesday

Late last week, Odom was arrested for DUI after rumors of his reported drug use surfaced. According to TMZ, he was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol on a freeway in the San Fernando Valley for driving too slowly at 3:54 a.m. on Aug. 30. Odom lost his driver’s license because he refused the chemical test, a decision that carries a one-year suspension.

On Tuesday, his alleged drug dealer told Radar Online that Odom had spent $50, 000 on drugs over the past three years. In the interview, the self-proclaimed “mystery man” said that Odom, 33, has a “huge problem and he has a very addictive personality. It is becoming worse as you can see.”

The drug dealer told Radar that the two-time NBA champ “likes to party” and that cocaine, which he prefers to freebase, is his drug of choice.

“I do not know anything about these new developments about him using pills. I do not know anything about that. The cocaine he fancies,” the man who requested his face and voice be disguised told the gossip site.

Though the focus has been on the problems in his personal life, things are not looking good for Odom’s professional life, either. It was only two seasons ago that Odom was named the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year with the Lakers, but after leaving L.A. in 2011, Odom’s career began to deteriorate. He averaged 6.6 points and 35.2 percent shooting with the Mavericks, who essentially kicked him off the team. He signed with the Clippers last year and averaged 4.0 points on 39.9 percent shooting.

Odom is a free agent this summer, and there is little chance that anyone will want to pick him up now.

“I would say he is beyond toxic at this point” one general manager told Sporting News. “I think that’s the end of Lamar Odom in the NBA. It’s a shame.”

Perhaps his stint in rehab will give him a chance to turn things around. Since People broke the story, several other media outlets have also confirmed that Odom has checked into a rehab facility, though details are still fuzzy. If it’s true, it is great news for Odom and his family.  And some sports outlets are speculating that if he is able to get completely clean and work hard for an entire year, someone will take a chance on him next season.

What do you think? Will Lamar Odom be able to turn things around?

In the News: Lamar Odom Returns Home, But Will He Go to Rehab?

Lamar Odom surfaced near his home in Los Angeles on Monday, looking gaunt and tired amid  rumors of his battle with drug addiction.

Sources with TMZ say the NBA star still remains unsure about seeking treatment but is “receptive.”

A week ago, he rejected an attempted intervention by his wife, leading to his getting kicked to the curb and going off the grid.

Radar Online reports that Lamar has been abusing the powerful painkiller, OxyContin, sometimes known as “hillbilly heroin” rather than crack cocaine. Sources told them that the ball player wasn’t tossed out of the league from random drug tests because he had a valid prescription.

Intervention attempts by teammates from the Los Angeles Clippers and his former team the Los Angeles Lakers at an L.A. hotel on Monday were rejected by Odom.

“There was a bit of time it appeared that Lamar was going to admit publicly his addiction and go to rehab, again,” the source told Radar. “But then, he abruptly bolted from the hotel and left the premises.”

E! reported that Kloe Kardashian kept Lamar’s drug addiction a secret from her family for most of the marriage, and that Kim was “shocked” to learn about the problem.

Odom, 32, has faced drug accusations before. In 2001, when playing for the Clippers, he violated NBA drug policies twice in eight months.

Apologizing at a press conference he admitted to using marijuana and told reporters and fans, “I’ve made a couple [of mistakes] and I may make a couple again, but hopefully they won’t be as big as this one.”

At age 12, Odom lost his mother to colon cancer. On Khloe & Lamar and to ESPN, Odom spoke of his father’s struggle with heroin addiction. He went to live with his grandmother and later Jerry DeGregorio, the coach of his Rhode Island college team.

Talking to the Miami Herald in 2003 about his marijuana use, Odom said, “I just couldn’t control myself in L.A. … the lifestyle that I was living and the things I had access to … A lot of times I’d think about it and say, ‘Damn, am I fighting my father’s demons … ‘ ”

In the News: Lamar Odom Missing; Kardashians Fear Crack Binge

Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian have “effectively” separated although the pair have yet to seek out divorce lawyers, according to a new report from TMZ.

The pair have been apart since last Wednesday when Kardashian tried to stage an intervention for Odom, who is allegedly addicted to crack cocaine.

The gossip website claims that sources have told them people on Lamar’s side, and on the Kardashian side have not been able to find Lamar or contact him for nearly 4 days — and that the main concern is he’s hiding out while doing crack cocaine.

TMZ reported that Lamar has had a problem for 2 years.  It got so bad, last August Khloe pressured Lamar to go to rehab.  Lamar went to a facility in San Diego, but he was so resistant Khloe hired private investigators to secretly stand guard at the rehab place to make sure he didn’t leave.  The P.I.s stood guard 24/7.  Lamar allegedly left after three weeks anyway.

After that stint in rehab, he was able to stay clean throughout the basketball season. But when the off-season started in May, he reportedly fell off the wagon and began using again.

After the failed intervention, Lamar took off, and hasn’t been seen since, says TMZ.

“Khloe is more concerned about saving Lamar than ending her marriage,” a source told TMZ. “The situation has become dire.”
