After you’ve completed rehab, what do you do? Most of the time, the best idea is to go into a sober living environment. There are many different reasons you should to a halfway house after treatment but I’ve thought of 6 signs you should go to a halfway house after rehab. If these signs apply to you, you should probably look into a halfway house!

6 Signs You Should Go To a Halfway House after Rehab…

1. You don’t want to (which is a sure sign that you should probably go.)

2. You think you’ve got this whole recovery thing down (you don’t, go to halfway.)

3. You have no conscience when it comes to money (this will definitely teach you the value of a dollar and to be responsible.)

4. You need to humble yourself (learning humility is key in early sobriety.)

5. You are still unsure about what you are doing (don’t just jump back into the real world if you are unsure.)

6. Your rehab center has suggested it to you (they have your best interest in mind & probably suggested it for a reason!)

Everyone has a different reason or another of why a halfway house wouldn’t work for them, but why not just give it a try. In rehab, your therapist and counselors will never suggest anything that is bad for you or going to hurt you so why not go, what do you have to lose? If you don’t go you could end up drinking or drugging again and lose your life.

I know for me, I didn’t want to go to halfway after treatment because I still had reservations on if I wanted to stay sober or not. So, instead of doing what I wanted to do I just listened and took the advice that was given to me and didn’t question it. It turned out I was just scared of staying sober (yes, of staying sober) and needed a push in the right direction. If you truly want to stay sober (or even if you’re not sure) just keep an open mind and be open to change.

In halfway you learn how to be responsible and be an adult again. You learn how to be a ‘functioning member’ of society and are surrounded by others in recovery, too. On those nights when I was thinking about drinking or getting high, it really helped to live in a house full of girls to talk to. The rehab you go to will help you get into a respectable halfway house with a good reputation and (at palm partners) will check on you after you go there. You are held accountable for your actions, you live in a very structured environment, are given a curfew and drug tested. You will need to get a job to pay rent and will need to attend meetings to continue living there. Living in a halfway house can truly humble a person. Where do calls go?

Calls to numbers on a specific treatment center listing will be routed to that treatment center. Additional calls will also be forwarded and returned by a quality treatment center within the USA.

Calls to any general helpline (non-facility specific 1-8XX numbers) for your visit will be answered by a licensed drug and alcohol rehab facility, a paid advertiser on PalmPartners.com.

All calls are private and confidential.
