To normies, drugs are fun and cool. For those of us who struggle with addiction, however, we know that drugs spell trouble. It might have started out as recreational use but, things got really bad. So much so, that we eventually had to do something drastic: change our whole lives around by becoming clean and sober and working a program of recovery so that we can maintain our new, clean lifestyle. Being overly sensitive and irritable tends to turn you into a bitchy person (whether you’re male or female – this is not gender-specific). Once you push people away, whether intentionally or unintentionally, you end up alone.

Those of us who have struggled with drugs often feel different from everyone else. We tend to believe that we think and feel different and this makes us the only one of our kind. This is an extremely lonely and isolating way to live.

Often times, when we are in active addiction, we isolate to the point that we have no friends whatsoever. The only people we interact with are our dealer and maybe a few using buddies.
