It’s funny when you think about the things we laugh at when someone is speaking and telling their story, they usually are the most messed up parts of our stories! It’s comical to us because we all can relate and have similar stories.

Unlike most games, Cards against Humanity is as appalling and awkward as us addicts. It is a simple card game that has ‘A free party game for horrible people’ written on it. What sounds more amusing than playing a card game with outrageous things on it that would cause us to laugh uncontrollably? Nothing sounds better than that to me.

You see it in Jackass and it’s for entertainment, but there are some addicts and alcoholics who injured themselves accidentally or even on purpose to get pain killers. I have a friend who once broke her foot with a cinderblock just to get prescribed pain killers, and I thought it was hilarious. Not something your everyday person would laugh at, though.

Sometimes when we first get sober, we gain a little bit more weight than we’d like to. Me and all my friends in rehab used to joke about how nice it would be to just smoke crack on the weekends, but you know just to lose weight and not during the week or anything.

It’s funny to me when I see people wearing pants or shirts from the past with burn holes in them from nodding out. One of my co-workers even decided to hang onto a pair of socks that she used to tie off with that have a blood stain on them, but because they are super comfy and her favorite she still wears them.

People in the rooms like to make jokes about 13th stepping all the time, and it’s funny. Obviously it’s not funny if you actually go out and do it, but joking about it can be funny. If it ends up not working out between two people in recovery, it’s also funny when you joke about how it couldn’t make you upset enough to relapse.

I have a friend who tells a story when she’s speaking about how she was so drunk one night that she fell and knocked some of her teeth out and kept on going wanting to party. I also tell a story when I speak about how I gave my car to my drug dealer for about 12 pills and people find it hysterical. Any normies I’ve told those things to don’t seem to laugh quite the way we do about it, though.

When I see a normie walk away from a glass of wine or a beer half full it’s funny to me because not only would I never do that but if I was in active addiction I would finish their drink and the entire bottle of wine with it.
